What is Red Cross Month: For nearly 80 years, U.S. presidents have proclaimed March as Red Cross Month to recognize people giving back through its lifesaving mission - which is powered by more than 90% volunteers.

How Can You Help: By giving blood or platelets, donating convalescent plasma, giving a financial gift, hosting a blood drive, or becoming a Blood Drive Champion.

Blood Drive Champions

Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs lifesaving blood. The American Red Cross must collect nearly 13,000 blood donations daily. Many of these donations are made through mobile blood drives. Every day, the Red Cross holds blood drives nationwide. Blood Drives Are Costly. Behind every blood drive, there are skilled staff, specialized equipment and transportation. An average drive costs $3,900. With so many drives a year, that's a huge expense, but it's worth every penny to save lives.
